EMIS for beginners

EMIS NUG identified a need for supporting new practice clinical staff members, students, Foundation Year attached trainees and sessional GPs to learn to use the EMIS system in consultation very rapidly, and a need for practices to be able to provide such training.

Although many practices have instructions included in their locum packs, we thought an on-line version might be more readily accessible – especially when learning how to consult in EMIS.

EMIS for Beginners has been developed to provide a quick course in using EMIS LV and PCS  Consultation, together with the absolute basics for security and confidentiality and an introduction to Read Code.

There are two basic groups who we felt needed this resource: practices with new consulters or locums, and sessional GPs and doctors in training who are not familiar with the EMIS system.

EMIS for Beginners, first launched in 2008, has been updated (2010) with improved LV screens and the addition of  EMIS for Beginners – PCS.
