Forums & Lists

We have for several years hosted a selection of discussion lists or groups for anyone to use to discuss EMIS related topics or general NHS issues. The lists are open to members and non-members, which we have done in order to facilitate as wide a participation and sharing of information as possible. Unlike some other user groups, we even allow non EMIS users to subscribe for the same reason. All that we ask is that the topics are related to EMIS and/or EMIS NUG in some way. However we interpret this request quite loosely so don't be afraid to ask your question.

The email discussion lists and forums are available to bring together EMIS users in an online community to share problems, ideas, hints and tips and ask questions.

The EMIS NUG currently runs four mailing lists:

  • EMIS List– this is the most popular list which for general EMIS related discussion.
  • GV-PCS List – for specific issues relating to the GV and PCS EMIS systems.
  • Community List– for community and nursing specific discussion.
  • Scotland List – for Scottish specific discussion.

Once you join a list all messages that anyone sends to the list are forwarded to all existing members using the e-mail address you provided at the time you joined.

People use the lists to ask questions about use of the EMIS software, developments, general practice IT and hardware amongst other topics. As well as sharing your problems we hope you will use the lists to share solutions you have found or to tell everyone about that wonderful new feature you found yesterday.

The views expressed in messages posted in the discussion lists are the views of the author and are not necessarily approved of by EMIS or the NUG. Similarly any advice you find in the discussion lists or a forums including files such as templates that you may download are shared on a "as you find them" basis.

In parallel, we also run a web forum which acts as an archive of the email discussion and acts as a portal in itself, as well as this website.
